RepRecord needed a civic engagement platform that aggregates real-time voting records, campaign finance data, and legislative activity for every elected official in the United States — at federal and state level. The challenge was integrating data from multiple disparate government APIs (Congress.gov, OpenFEC, Google Civic Information, OpenStates, 5 Calls, Wikidata) into a cohesive, fast, and accessible user experience. The platform also required real-time push notifications for vote alerts, a personalized weekly newsletter, multi-language support (English, Spanish, Chinese), and offline-capable mobile apps — all while being deployed on Cloudflare\'s edge network for sub-100ms global load times.

We architected a full-stack solution using Next.js on Cloudflare Workers with D1 database, ingesting data from six major public APIs — Congress.gov API (federal legislation & voting records), OpenFEC (campaign finance & donor analysis), Google Civic Information API (representative lookup by address), OpenStates (state-level legislative data), 5 Calls API (federal representative data), and Wikidata API (representative photos & biographies). Gemini AI powers the personalized Weekly Roll Call newsletter, Stripe handles premium subscriptions, and Resend delivers email campaigns. The frontend features a dark/light theme, interactive state map, GPS-based rep lookup, and real-time push notifications via Capacitor for iOS/Android deployment. A custom Ad Consistency Verification (ACV) module ensures all legislative claims are sourced and verifiable using either Gemini or heuristic extraction.
